Pet Safe House Cleaning Tips
Those of you with fur babies, I know it’s SO hard to keep a clean home. There’s fur flying around, dust, etc. So we have to consistently clean to make sure we all live healthy lives! We all have silly pets, like the ones who lick the floor, windows, tables, or the cats who take a nap absolutely anywhere! That being said, we don’t want to put our animals in harms way by using cleaning products that may be toxic to them! (especially if you have a floor licker) So how do we know what products are safe for them?
First, this is what we should remove from our household with pets. Ammonia and bleach are highly toxic to our four legged friends. They have a much better sense of smell than us humans do, and they’re also much closer to the ground, which means they’re breathing in and smelling it a lot more than we are. When they breathe in too much, this can cause several side effects. Certain essential oils, depending on the scent, can also be toxic to pets. Rubbing alcohol can also be dangerous for them by causing low blood sugar, slow heart rate, and breathing difficulties.
Vinegar and baking soda are very effective, yet pet-friendly household cleaners! Enzymatic cleaners are also pet safe and work very effectively! The household cleaner Angry Orange is a great multi-use cleaner for pet homes. Always read the label on products before using, and be sure to look for anything that says “flammable”, “corrosive”, or “warning”. Always make sure the floors and surfaces are clean before allowing your pets to roam the house. Be sure to store your cleaners away from the pet’s reach to where they aren’t able to get to them. We know how curious they are!
